What Should be the Top Priorities of Governments Post-Coronavirus?

A unique virus, also known as the “coronavirus”, appeared in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019. It immediately engulfed the entire world. Pakistan’s first coronavirus case came out in February. The virus has affected about 90,000 people in the country so far. Moreover, 1900 people have lost their lives. This epidemic has shaken the world. The situation in Pakistan also takes a serious turn from different angles. People were thinking the epidemic was confined to China. Now everyone accepts it as a global reality. The world has witnessed its devastation in countries such as Italy, Spain, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

This will have a profound effect on the conduct of governments, especially on the aspects of public health. Nature has shaken all humanity and given it a chance to rethink its way of life. Coronavirus is the result of human disregard and cruelty to natural factors, which have led by years of deforestation and cruelty to life.

The Social Effects of Coronavirus:

Socially, the virus revolves around the importance of emotions in life. And life revolves solely around money and power. After the virus is eradicated, the spirituality factor in people’s relationships will increase slightly. Second, people will begin to consider spending time with their family and consider them as capital. Third, people will also learn the art of finding their inner peace by spending time with themselves. This can be in various occupations such as gardening, painting, reading books. Fourth, the way social distance from the coronavirus has been deemed necessary, its effect will be felt in societies for a long time to come. This will be especially positive for societies where privacy is considered a negative attribute, such as Pakistan.

Internal and External effects of Corona:

Nuclear weapons, advanced combat facilities, and skilled troops. This was the measure of power before. Now the best health care, efficient planning, and immediate action will determine the capacity of countries. Just as China, South Korea, Taiwan, and Singapore have overtaken many developed countries, such as the United States, Spain, and Germany, in defending the virus on an emergency basis on time, it will set new scales of power.  Countries will regularly review health facilities. They will allocate a significant portion of their budgets to the health sector, once the virus is eradicated

A country’s ranking will be largely dependent on its ability to fight the coronavirus and various epidemics and with the help of other countries in this regard. Domestically, countries will strengthen their public institutions, especially education and health. Vaccination will be mandatory for travel. As soon as the vaccine is available, it will act as a passport. But it may still take a long time. However, for immediate resolution, a certificate of negative corona test may be required for foreign travel.

Coronavirus’ Economic impact:

There is no doubt that the United Nations is heading towards an era in which every country will face economic instability. Countries that are already in debt will see a severe economic crisis. As a result, there is a risk of increasing poverty in societies that are already suffering from extreme poverty. As for Pakistan, for example, according to the economic data of 2017-2018, 24.3% of the population is living below the poverty line. This is also conceivable because when there are reports of rising unemployment in a developed country like the United States, the virus seems to be creating a new chapter of economic hardship for developing countries.

Impact of Coronavirus on Technology:

Coronavirus has highlighted the urgent need for technology. The coronavirus has prompted every country to rely on its resources to increase the number of health devices. Especially ventilators, masks, gloves, and diagnostic kits. In the days to come, the element of self-reliance will be more prevalent in the strategy of countries. As the virus spread, offices and educational institutions closed and private institutions and offices resorted to online social networking sites. This will increase the chances of working on digital technology as well as it’s quality in the days to come. Job qualification fields will include online technical skills. Digital qualifications will play a part in future recruitment.

Finally, the virus will have both negative and positive effects on both developing and developed countries. It will enter the bodies of nations like fresh blood that can give them new life and can also destroy. Now it’s up to the body’s ability to absorb. The benefits depend on the ability of the countries.
